Two posts in two days. What is this? But never fear, yet again I’m posting about some smashing news rather later then when it was announced. It’s more Big Finish, and it’s giddyingly awesome: I’ve written for Tom Baker.
I thought it wasn’t going to be out for years and years (it’s still quite a while away) – I only finished writing it in July…or August…it’s hard to remember thank you 2020. But last summer. It was as terrifying as it was awesome. Tom Baker. TOM BAKER. This is the man who made me fall in love with Doctor Who. I was hooked in with The Five Doctors and then gifted with Sontaran Experiment/Genesis of the Daleks (ty Mum!) and that was what cemented it; Doctor Who would be with me forever.
It’s a two-parter. It’s called Peake Season. It features Mervyn Peake. If you don’t know, Peake was a superlative fantasy offer who, while well-known, seems to have *just* missed out on being a part of pop culture. He was a contemporary of Tolkien and CS Lewis, and they often overshadow him. His most famous work is The Gormenghast Trilogy, truly mind-bogglingly brilliant books with unsurpassed imagery, as vivid as they are gorgeous; a sublime piece of fantasy literature.
So, it was a little bit intimidating writing him too. I hope I did him justice. I hope I did the Fourth Doctor justice. It was truly a joy to work on this and I’m so thankful to my editor, John Dorney, for giving me the opportunity to do so.
It’s out in 2022, but you can pre-order now.
Oh, congratulations! (Also, wow – the Gormenghast Trilogy and Who together? Terrifying!)

Thank you!
Whoa! Huge congratulations! Definitely going to have to get this one when it comes out.
